Stories

Laura tells original stories, folktales and myths. Her stories are versatile, creative, and transformative.

A few of the traditional stories Laura tells include: East of the Sun West of the Moon, The King of Cats and Gilgamesh, the first written story known. Gilgamesh explores the king of Uruk’s quest for immortality. Most of the traditional stories Laura tells have her own special perspective.

Among her original stories, you’ll hear Camaro in which a young man finds more than he bargained for in the car of his dreams, when a djinni emerges from the glove box and offers to grant him three wishes. It’s hard enough knowing who you are when you’re young, let along knowing what to wish for.

You might also hear the Crazy Jane and Red Haired Annie stories, which follow the adventures of two friends through a world much like ours, with the addition of giants and fairies and magic around the corner. Crazy Jane is a holy fool while Red Haired Annie has a bit more sense. Usually.

You may hear about the time Laura lived in New Hampshire and the assorted characters she met there. Or you might even hear a story about the connections between beauty and food. The possibilities are almost endless.

Laura’s stories are wide-ranging and appropriate to a wide range of events and occasions. She has over 75 stories in her active repertoire.
